The procedure

6 steps

  1. Agree the last day, the transition plan, and what gets communicated to whom.
  2. Capture the critical knowledge the person holds before they leave.
  3. Schedule an exit conversation to learn what would have changed their decision, where relevant.
  4. Revoke system access on the agreed schedule, fully on the last day.
  5. Recover company property and finalize pay, benefits, and any agreements.
  6. Communicate the change to the team with clarity and respect.
Outputs
  • A transition plan with knowledge captured
  • Access revoked and property recovered on schedule
  • A clean final pay and benefits wrap-up

Note: Revoking access cleanly on the last day is non-negotiable for security; doing it with dignity is non-negotiable for culture. Both, always.
