When to use it

Run it once a year, often alongside or just before annual planning, and again whenever a major inflection point demands a reset: a new market, a funding event, a leadership change, or a strategy that has stopped working. It needs uninterrupted, protected time.

Who attends

Keep it to the leadership team, three to ten people who can both think strategically and commit to the direction. A skilled facilitator helps surface real disagreement rather than letting it simmer beneath polite consensus.

How to run it

Frame the strategic question first so the day has a destination, then scan the market and clarify the strengths and differentiators worth building around.
