# Weekly One-on-One

> A recurring manager-report one-on-one owned by the report that surfaces blockers and growth before they become problems.

**Category:** HR & People

**When to use:** Weekly or biweekly between a manager and each direct report.

**Trigger:** Recurring weekly or biweekly one-on-one

## Steps

1. Let the report own most of the agenda; their topics come first.
2. Open with how they are doing as a person, not just as a worker.
3. Walk through their current priorities and any blockers you can clear.
4. Give and ask for specific feedback in both directions.
5. Touch on growth: one thing they are learning or want to develop.
6. Capture agreed actions with owners and review them next time.

## Outputs

- Cleared or escalated blockers
- Two-way feedback captured
- Agreed actions carried to the next session

## Tools

- Shared one-on-one doc
- Calendar

## Notes

The one-on-one belongs to the report. A manager who fills it with status updates has turned the most valuable meeting into a redundant one.
